third WEEK (sept. 19- 25, 2019)

representing the philippines in the

3-day international food festival at unsyiah

During our third week in UNSYIAH, we've been invited by the International Relation Officer, Ms. Ria Ervelita, to join the International Food festival and represent the Philippines. We got very excited during the food fest as it would be a great opportunity for us to showcase different delicacies from our country.

We cooked Chicken Adobo, Tortang Talong, and Buko Juice.

nice meeting you, pak wandi

During the 3-day International food festival, we met an Acehnese local who stayed in the Philippines for 8 years. He stayed in our country for his studies and went back to Aceh on 2015. He is very fluent in speaking Tagalog so at first we really thought that he is  a 'kababayan".

We  talked for a couple of hours only to find out that his family is one of the most influential families in Banda Aceh. Also, he owns one of the best seafood restaurants in their place so he invited us to have dinner in one of his restaurants. Upon our arrival, we got really amazed on how good the place was. It was also our first time to try Sanger coffee during that night and it was too strong that we weren't able to sleep. I was literally up the whole night because of the Sanger coffe

more interaction with our dearest students

During snack time or lunch break, sometimes the students would approach us and ask us to join them. Our conversation usually circles around the differences and similarities of Indonesia and Philippines in terms of cultures, traditions, and beliefs.

One of our students from Social class loves spoiling the three of us with free food most especially Nasi Goreng because she knew that it is one of our favorites in Aceh. We never asked her to cook for us but she really loves cooking for us everytime she has spare time. Her cooking is one of the things that would definitely miss when we go back to the Ph.

our first suzuya experience

Suzuya is the one and only mall in Banda Aceh. We went there with Pak Wandi to buy some stuffs that we will be needing.

If you are in Banda Aceh, then this place will be a good place for buying the daily-needed stuffs. However, we've noticed that parking is a bit difficult most especially during weekend since there are a lot of people who go there.

time to say goodbye to some of our colleagues from north sumatra and other parts of aceh

This week was quite hard for us because this was also the time when some of our colleagues left us since their program already ended.

They have been so good to us so we got really emotiona when they left. They even gave us simple gifts before they go back to their hometowns.

We will definitely miss you Ate Yannie,Ate Nurul, Ate Nur, and Ate Hafni. Til we meet again!

dinner & coffee break with abang alul

Abang Alul has been one of our closest friends in Aceh. He isn't just a friend but more like a brother to us. He is our Abang. And never have we ever felt uncomfortable everytime we are with him. He has been our coffee shop buddy ever since. We get to try a lot of local restos and coffee shops because he always accompany us.

experiencing extracurricular day

in sma lab school

Saturday is considered as Extracurricular day and it was our first time to experience this in SMA Laboratorium UNSYIAH. This is very essential not just for the students but for the faculty and staffs as well to create a deeper bond between each other. It is a time for everyone to enhance their skills and know-hows in different areas.

During Extracurricular day, everyone is free to choose whatever event/sport they would like to engage themselves. You can choose whether you want to play badminton, futsal, basketball, taekwendo, archery, volleyball, and etc. They also have music lessons so it really depends on you which one you want to choose. I chose badminton and I had really fun playing with my students.
